ANSM Approval for an Ophthalmic Treatment for Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis
We are very proud of the authorization granted by the ANSM in March, which allows TBF Tissue Engineering to make available an eye drop for the ophthalmic treatment of toxic epidermal necrolysis in both children and adults.
This authorization also underscores our commitment, at TBF and Lépine, to addressing rare diseases by leveraging the expertise TBF has developed in regenerative medicine. In France, this condition affects approximately 10 cases per year, and until now, there was no established ophthalmic treatment for this indication.
Associated with drug toxicity, toxic epidermal necrolysis causes severe desquamation of the mucous membranes and the ocular surface, leading to significant pain and visual sequelae. To help manage this rare condition, TBF has designed and developed an eye drop composed almost exclusively of Wharton’s jelly.
Thanks to its natural proteoglycans, it helps maintain deep hydration of the ocular surface and promotes epithelial regeneration from the acute phase onward.
In rare diseases, every patient counts. Every solution does too.
