F-PHOENIX DBM ®

F-PHOENIX DBM ® demineralized bone DBM fibers are derived from cortical bone that has undergone a viro-inactivation and demineralization process that dissolves hydroxyapatite crystals.

This process produces DBM and releases growth factors (BMP bone-inducing proteins).

F-PHOENIX DBM ® then induces differentiation of the surrounding cells, actively participating in the reconstruction and remodeling of the recipient site: this is osteoinduction.

Discover

The benefits

At TBF, we design our grafting products with a constant focus on quality, safety and clinical performance. Every PHOENIX® bone graft is prepared according to rigorous, scientifically validated processes that comply with the most stringent regulatory requirements.

Osteoinductive effect

Thanks to its osteoinductive proteins BMP2 and BMP7, F-PHOENIX DBM ® demineralized bone fibers induce differentiation of surrounding cells and accelerate bone reconstruction and remodeling at the recipient site.

Unique treatment process

The F-PHOENIX DBM ® process is a specific viral inactivation, delipidation, freeze-drying and radiosterilization treatment offering every possible guarantee of harmlessness.

Proof of effectiveness

The effect of F-PHOENIX-DBM ® is monitored and guaranteed for each batch by means of the systematic PAL functional test: determination of the Alkaline Phosphatase synthesized by dedifferentiated osteoblastic cells in contact with DBM.

A unique production process

The F-PHOENIX DBM® process, a secure, controlled industrial process exclusive to TBF. This process is a specific treatment for viral inactivation, delipidation, freeze-drying and radiosterilization, offering every possible guarantee of harmlessness. Production takes place in ISO6 & ISO7 controlled atmosphere zones.

  1. Preparing the DBM matrix

Use of femoral head neck or long bone to obtain cortical bone rich in BMP osteoinductive proteins.

  2. Mechanical and chemical treatments

Mechanical and chemical treatments: successive chemical baths inactivate viruses, bacteria and fungi. A final hydrochloric acid bath demineralizes the cortical bone, dissolving hydroxyapatite crystals and releasing BMP growth factors. The result is demineralized bone containing less than 5% calcium.

  3. Grinding

    Translucent, sticky fibers after rehydration

  4. Lyophilization

In order to achieve reproducible deep dehydration of the DBM, cryo-sublimation guarantees long-term preservation of the DBM’s characteristics at room temperature.

  5. Gamma radiosterilization

Gamma radiosterilization: This process, with its narrow sterilization range (maximum 32 kGy), preserves the biological and structural quality of DBM, while enabling effective sterilization to ISO11137 standards.

  6. Final packaging and storage

Shelf life of 5 years at room temperature.

  7. Guaranteed osteoinduction

Guaranteed osteo-induction: During the process, each graft is subjected to rigorous TBF controls, including a systematic functional test for Alkaline Phosphatase (PAL), an enzyme produced by differentiated osteoblasts in contact with DBM. This assay confirms the osteoinductive effect of F-PHOENIX DBM® grafts.
